Sierra Blanca is a residential area known, on a real estate level, as the "Beverly Hills" of Marbella. This affectionate nickname comes from its similarity to its American counterpart. In Sierra Blanca the avenues are wide, full of vegetation and palm trees, with sea views, beautiful villas in safe, quiet and selected neighbourhood. Marbella is also called the "California of Europe" because of its warm temperatures, beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. Living in Marbella is already a luxury in itself, but choosing the Sierra Blanca area to live in is the icing on the cake.

Once you move into this neighbourhood it is important to get your bearings in terms of services. The quality of the services is one of its great advantages. Above all, it is useful to know where to go shopping if you live in Sierra Blanca. As the options are wide and varied, we have highlighted a few areas to make it easier for you. Parking will almost always be available and the journey by car will be short.

Here are our tips on where to go shopping if you live in Sierra Blanca:

Marbella Centre if you live in Sierra Blanca

Walking down to the centre of Marbella from Sierra Blanca to shop is easy and convenient. Marbella town centre has expanded over the years. It used to be confined to the historic area of the town, but nowadays it has a generous stretch. It stretches from the Hotel Amare to the east to the Pirulí area of Marbella, and even further.

The best thing about shopping in the centre is the local flavour. There are a multitude of shops with all kinds of products. Fashion, footwear, perfumes, sporting goods, food and household goods... you can find anything you need and with a more personal touch than in the shopping centres. Some of the most outstanding shops in the centre for their quality are: the jewellers Gómez y Molina, the shoe shop Capricho&Nevada, the olive oil specialists D'oliva, the wine and liquor experts Casa Pablo or the Iberian products shop La Casa del Jamón.

Other interesting shops include Davinkidz for children's toys, the beautiful ceramics shop of the artist Ana Ortiz or a small shop for tea lovers such as Marbella-Té. The Mercado Municipal del Centro where you can buy fresh fruit, meat and fish, as well as spices, bread, cheeses and anything else you need for your pantry is certainly a must in Marbella Centro.

The neighbourhood of La Carolina if you live in Sierra Blanca

La Carolina is an urbanisation just below Sierra Blanca descending in the direction of the sea. Named after an apartments complex, it covers actually a larger area. This is a densely populated quarter and has many decoration shops such as Gunni Trentino, Banni, Benington, Holland Flowers, Pedro Peña Interiors Design or Alejandro Herman Art Gallery. Is possible to also find good supermarkets allowing between their services online shopping and home delivery. Lidl, Carrefour, Aldi and SuperCor are the supermarkets for the area.

El Corte Inglés Shopping Centre "El Capricho".

At the foot of Sierra Blanca there is a branch of the prestigious firm El Corte Inglés called "El Capricho". Inside there are all kinds of products and a wonderful supermarket. Although it must be emphasised that it is very specialised in decoration. On its corner, with a very lively terrace where pets are allowed, there is a Starbucks. It is an essential social spot in the area and a good Co-Working centre.

Malls in Marbella

Marbella has large shopping centres such as La Cañada, El Corte Inglés de Puerto Banús, Marina Banús and Centro Plaza. You can also visit luxury boutiques in the Puerto Banús marina. In the latter, the list is impressive. Dior, Gucci, Hermés, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Bvlgari, Loewe, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera... up to a hundred top brands. In short, ideal luxury shopping. Marbella street markets. Nueva Andalucía: the nearest to Sierra Blanca

The Costa del Sol is full of street markets, especially at weekends. In Marbella, the one in Las Albarizas on Mondays, the one in Elviria on Saturdays and the permanent one in Puerto Banús are very popular. The markets of Fuengirola and Benahavís are very well known as well. If you would like to know the exact day and time, we recommend checking the calendars with these localities. In addition to buying fruit and vegetables, you will find the stalls of local artists, especially those selling clothes and accessories, are very interesting. Even only for the bustling and colourful atmosphere, the street markets are worthy of a visit.

If you visit during summer time, we recommend you bring a good hat, sun cream and purchase a beautiful fan from one of the stalls. The early hours of the markets are quieter and it is important to be prepared with  cash as many traders only offer this payment option. From Sierra Blanca the closest, and worthwhile, is the Market of Nueva Andalucia on Saturdays.

We have already seen how Sierra Blanca on itself has no commercial area. That is why it is a very quiet suburban district where practically only residents and visitors go. Just nearby, there is a whole universe for shopping of the most varied. If you like Sierra Blanca you can read more about it, in our Guide to the neighbourhood. Sierra Blanca really is a paradise within paradise.
